Senior dances

Senior dances will be 1-4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Motley Ten-Hi with music by Frank and Fran; 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at Waukenabo with music by Frank and Fran; 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Little Falls Senior Center with Jerry’s Dance Band; and 1-4 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Aitkin Legion for a music jam.

Animal adoption event

BAXTER -- Scooby's Animal Mission will be having a pet adoption event 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14, at PetSmart in Baxter.

Both events will have some animals available for adoption. All animals are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered.

Alpha Chapter OES No. 23 to meet

Alpha Chapter OES No. 23 will meet 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9.

Dinner will be 5:30 p.m. at Northwind Grill.

The Captain Robert Orr Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will meet 10 a.m. Sept. 14 at the Front Street Cafe, 616 Front St., Brainerd.

Faye Leach will be hostess. State Regent Dianne Plunkett Latham will be presenting the program. Her three state projects are: Paying for a GEP III class for all chapter registrars, increasing recycling and raising awareness of human trafficking.

The mission of this partnership is to educate and strengthen the partners’ understanding of investing and gain hands-on experience in analyzing stocks and interpreting financial statements.

The Pinetree Patchworkers Quilt Club will meet 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 6190 Fairview Road, Baxter.

Rita Radil will open the meeting with a talk and trunk show discussing how to use preprinted fabric panels in quilt making.

Cuyuna Range Women’s Club to meet Monday

DEERWOOD -- The Cuyuna Range Women's Club will kick-off its 104th season 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood.

Note the new location.

Guest speaker will be Crosby Mayor Bob Novak. He will give an informative update on the many changes occurring in Crosby. The city and the entire Cuyuna Range has seen a revitalization in the last several years.

Novak will address Crosby's reawakening and how the city has reinvented itself. "Our new economic driver is spawning new businesses, new visitors, new investors and creating growth. This activity will strengthen our tax base and allow for continued growth and economic and improvements in Crosby. We will explore the snowball effect of this change," Novak said in a release.

Novak was appointed mayor by the Crosby City Council in September of 2017 and was re-elected in November 2018.

Membership dues for the Cuyuna Range Women's Club are $5. New members are welcome and encouraged to join.
