BAXTER-The Legacy Chorale of Greater Minnesota will have auditions for its 16th season-2017-18-from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter.
"We're seeking singers of all voice parts," Artistic Director Sarah Aamot stated in a news release. "I will be listening for musical skills like intonation and tone quality; whether a singer is suited to blending into choral sound or has solo ability. I'll also be listening for ability to control vibrato and volume, vocal flexibility and expressiveness."
Aamot stated all who like to sing are encouraged to audition.
"Ability to sight read music is helpful but not necessary," she stated. "There is no need to prepare a piece or bring music; it's informal and comfortable. Simply show up anytime during the audition period and be ready to sing. We hold auditions so I can get to know singers' voices, so I can determine whether the tone quality of their voice blends well into our group and then place them in the right section.
"This is an exciting time to join the Legacy Chorale," she stated. "We're taking a deeper look at our mission and purpose to bring extraordinary performances of great chorale music to the Brainerd/Baxter area and greater Minnesota. We're exploring ways to use sponsorships to make those concerts affordable to everyone in the community. And we're performing a wide range of music to appeal to all ages and tastes."
