Brainerd High School’s play “Check Please” will be available for online streaming rather than in-person performance.
Students were rehearsing for the play, which was originally slated to take place Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 19-21, on the stage at Tornstrom Auditorium.
After BHS went to distance learning full time and the governor added more COVID-19 restrictions, Theater Director Karla Johnson canceled the in-person show. However, Johnson announced Tuesday, Nov. 17, people may stream the play and watch it at their convenience anytime Thursday through midnight Saturday.
The cost is $7.95 and the recorded performance may be viewed by clicking on broadwayondemand.com . Once a person clicks on the link, they will be prompted to log into their Broadway On Demand account or to create a new account by selecting “Click here to Sign Up” and enter an email and password. Once logged in, they will be automatically taken to the payment page. If anyone experiences any difficulties trying to purchase or access the production, email info@broadwayondemand.com .
The synopsis of the play is as follows: “Dating can be hard. Especially when your date happens to be a raging kleptomaniac, or your grandmother's bridge partner, or a mime. ‘Check Please’ follows a series of blind dinner dates that couldn't get any worse — until they do. Could there possibly be a light at the end of the tunnel?”
