"I played Vitali's 'Chaconne.' I didn't choose it. It was one of my teacher's favorite pieces. Cheryl Stewart, is my violin teacher in Minneapolis. The orchestra has close to 100 people and there is 40 violinists and I am the second violinist. I learned that I was selected from a letter they sent. I was really happy."

Why did you chose the violin: "I have been playing the violin since I was 4. I do not remember why I chose it. I asked my parents if i could play.

"I like to play it because it's always a challenge. I always feel like I can do better. It is also a great feeling when you work on a piece for so long and when it all comes together it is so beautiful.

"I've taken private lessons since eighth grade. I was taking lessons with Grant Wilcox here at the high school and he recommended I go down there. He wanted me to play at a higher level. I go down there every week on Saturday. It's tough, but it is part of my lifestyle. My mom and I go every week."

Favorite music to perform: "I don't like just one, a variety. I like it all."

Hardest piece: "The one I tried out on with the Minnesota All-State Orchestra. I practiced the same amount on it as I did with other pieces, a couple hours a day."

Hobbies: "I run cross-country and track. I run a lot with friends and we do a lot of the local races. I enjoy spending time with friends, we hang out and talk about what's going on at school."
