NISSWA-Brianna Lane will close out the fall 2018 Grassroots Concerts series with a concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Live Well Night Club and Coffee Bar in Nisswa.

"A gifted singer/songwriter in true Americana form, she writes and performs on an acoustic guitar and banjo, crafting songs that are clear-eyed and pure," a news release stated. "The Minneapolis artist has the voice of a chain-smoking angel, songs with equal parts hope and despair, and a stage presence of a true friend."

Fans of Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin and Ryan Adams will recognize familiar integrity derived from her gritty, unflinching emotional honesty.

Jim Walsh of the Star Tribune wrote Lane is "poised, ambitious, a great writer, a soul singer of the first order, and an accomplished guitarist."

In her 10 years of touring, Lane has shared the stage with Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Colin Hay, Billy Bragg, Dar Williams, Patty Larkin, The Weepies and numerous other seasoned musicians.

"Lane's beguiling smile lies a heart that has had its share of heartache where songs like 'In My Bones' and 'Company' draw their inspiration," the news release stated. "Her stories oscillate between urgency and resolve while seeking a tranquil balance.

"Lane is proof that talent, ambition and honesty still mean something in today's hyper-stylized and manipulated musical landscape."

Lane has released four full-length solo records and one duo EP with Cahalen Morrison as "Harbor Collective." Her latest full-length CD is "The Navigators Club."

Admission is $10 at the door for adults and $5 for children under 12 with listening attention, when accompanied by an adult. At all shows, seating is first-come, first-served. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The nonprofit series welcomes concert-goers' donations of nonperishable food or cash for the food shelf.
