Country star Toby Keith, who has sold more than 40 million albums, is coming to the Lakes Jam stage in 2016.

Lakes Jam organizers on Friday announced Keith will be the country headliner of the jam scheduled June 23-25, 2016. Country night is scheduled June 24.

Lakes Jam, an outdoor music festival that unites rock and country music fans, is held at Brainerd International Raceway, located north of Brainerd and Baxter on Highway 371. National artists will perform on the main stage and area bands will perform on the secondary stage for the music festival.

On the Lakes Jam social media sites, organizers Friday announced Keith would be the country headliner. On Thursday, organizers announced Styx as the rock-n-roll headliner scheduled to perform June 25. Lakes Jam again promises three days, 15 bands and "one big party."

Keith, who was named the Entertainer of the Year in 2009, released his first four studio albums: 1993's "Toby Keith," "1994's Boomtown," 1996's "Blue Moon" and 1997's "Dream Walkin'," plus a Greatest Hits package. These albums all earned gold or higher certification and produced several chart singles, including his debut "Should've Been a Cowboy," which topped the country charts and was the most played country song of the 1990s. The song has received three million spins since its release, according to Broadcast Music Incorporated.

Keith overall has released 17 studio albums, two Christmas albums and four compilation albums, according to Wikipedia. He also has charted 61 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, including 20 No. 1 hits and 21 additional top 10 hits. His longest-lasting number one hits are "Beer for My Horses" and "As Good as I Once Was," at six weeks each.

Keith, who has been writing songs since he was 15 or 16, was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June. The American Country Music Career Achievement Award was awarded to Keith in 2013. His hit song "Red Solo Cup" won Keith the AMC Video of the Year Award in 2012. Keith also was nominated for the AMC's Single Record of the Year for the song. Keith's "Red Solo Cup" album was nominated for five other AMC awards in 2006-2011.

Keith was nominated in 2013 for AMC's Male Vocalist of the Year award and for many other AMC awards over the years.
