Lakes Rodeo, a professional bull riding and barrel racing event, will hit the grandstands at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds in Brainerd.

This will be the second year Lakes Rodeo has come to Brainerd. Huff Entertainment Solutions and Green Lantern Bar and Grill teamed up with Rice Bull Riding Company to produce an event that will feature professional and competitive bull riding and barrel racing with bull riders coming from all over the Midwest, such as Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Indiana, Montana, South Dakota, Illinois and Minnesota. In addition, two notable riders from Brazil are scheduled to compete, but the schedule is subject to change. Barrel racers are coming from Wisconsin, Iowa, Montana and Minnesota.

Rice Bull Riding Company prides itself on not only putting on a first-class competitive sporting event, but also an entertaining show complete with pyro and special effects plus a top-notch, professional rodeo funnyman that is sure to please all ages, a news release stated.

“We were so pleased with the community’s support and attendance last year so that we could continue to build upon this new event for Brainerd,” Carolyn Huff, co-owner with Erik Huff of Huff Entertainment Solutions, stated in a news release. “We have exciting plans for the future of this event to keep expanding its activities. In fact, this year we have added the always fun event of Kids Mutton Busting. The Crow Wing County Fairgrounds’ team has been so good to us with their guidance and support as well. Their fairgrounds are a really beautiful facility to host all the different spaces we need for this event like the grandstands, the entertainment stage, barns, campsites and more. It really makes for a perfect location for our attendees to easily access as well with ample parking.”

Rice Bull Riding Company and its staff continually strive to produce professional quality entertainment, while creating an edge-of-your-seat experience for the crowd, using only professional announcers, funnyman, and quality livestock. Following every event, the champions are awarded custom designed buckles and are available for an autograph signing session to allow spectators, children, and families to interact with the cowboys, cowgirls, funnyman and bull riders.

The bull riders from Brazil include Ueberdon Duarte, a two-time Central Bull Riders Association champion, current CBRA leader, Bull Riders, Inc., world champion, two-time National Federation of Professional Bullriders champion and has been to several televised PBR events. Dirlei Bonani is fresh from Brazil and already a big money winner at Cheyenne Frontier Days and has been winning money at every U.S. event so far.

From Minnesota, Coy Thorson of Underwood, is a multi-winning Minnesota Bull Riding champion and is scheduled to compete.

Rice Bull Riding Company was recently honored to put on the first bull riding event in Saudi Arabia this past year and continues to host events all over the Midwest.

The Green Lantern will be at the event selling food and beverages. There will be a merchandise tent with souvenir clothing and items plus novelties for children. Free programs will be handed out at the gates and include a special back page to capture autographs of the spectators’ favorite riders.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Saturday on the south end of the fairgrounds, with the rodeo starting at 7 p.m. Autograph session will be 9-9:30 p.m. near the grandstands.

Free entertainment with Shotgun Drama Junkies will perform from 9:30-11:30 p.m.

Advance tickets are $15 and go up to $20 at the gate. Ages 5 and younger are free and ages 6-12 are $15 at the gate.
