Morgan Wallen and Carly Pearce join the Lakes Jam 2020 lineup of artists to perform Aug. 7 on the Bud Light main stage at Brainerd International Raceway, north of Brainerd.

Lakes Jam organizers made the announcement Friday, June 5. Pearce will perform at 8 p.m. and Wallen at 10 p.m. Last month, organizers announced the three-day outdoor music festival would be postponed from late June to be hosted Aug. 5-8.

A news release stated Wallen has staked his claim as country music’s next superstar with 2.5 billion career streams, several gold, platinum and multi-platinum, and back-to-back chart-toppers. The Tennessee native has been riding a red-hot streak since 2017, collecting accolades including Billboard’s No. 1 song of 2019 on both the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts — multi-week No. 1 “Whiskey Glasses.”

He also received his first-ever nominations at both the County Music Association Awards as 2019 New Artist of the Year and American Country Music Awards for 2020 New Male Artist of the Year. A 2019 CMT Breakthrough Video of the Year for “Whiskey Glasses” spotlights placements on People’s 2019 Ones to Watch and MusicRow’s 2019 Next Big Thing lists. Singles include “Chasin’ You,” “This Bar,” "Heartless" and the newest release “More Than My Hometown.”

Pearce’s kind of country transcends the moment, the release stated. Fiercely rooted in the classics, the girl who left her Kentucky home and high school at 16 to take a job at Dollywood has grown into a woman who embraces the genre’s forward progression. Defying odds, her No. 1 debut “Every Little Thing” designated Pearce as the highest charting solo female debut since July 2015 and one of only three women to accomplish the feat in the last decade. Her platinum-certified, blockbuster ballad steered a chart-topping trifecta on SiriusXM’s The Highway as “If My Name Was Whiskey” and “Hide The Wine” followed.

Beyond her 2019 CMA Awards New Artist of the Year, iHeartRadio Music Awards Best New Country Artist, ACM Awards New Female Artist of the Year and CMT Music Awards Female Video of the Year nominations, the diversity of her connection saw her win CMT Music Awards’ Breakthrough Video of the Year and Radio Disney Music Award for The Freshest! – Radio Disney Country Best New Artist.
