Rhythmic Circus-internationally renowned, 12-member live music and tap dance ensemble-brings its "Holiday Shuffle" show Dec. 16 to Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd.
Presented by the Central Lakes Community Performing Arts Center, the show begins at an earlier time, 6 p.m., than other Cultural Arts Series performances.
Producer Patrick Spradlin states this is "a really big, really fun, really unique" holiday show.
"We were fortunate to be included in a Minnesota State Arts Board touring grant application for this show," Spradlin stated in a news release. "This company is crossing Minnesota on a 12-city tour, and we're the final stop on the tour."
For over a decade, Rhythmic Circus of Minneapolis has been an icon in the world of tap dance. The troupe has performed their productions in over 250 cities worldwide including a six-week tour throughout China and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the world's largest art festival. Notable national performances include the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., an extended off-Broadway run at New York's New Victory Theater and the television series "America's Got Talent."

"This show is incredible, and a real family-friendly event," Spradlin stated. "That's why we've priced it at an affordable cost, and moved the starting time up to earlier in the evening. We hope to see lots of families at the 6 p.m. show."
"'Holiday Shuffle' is a joyous parade of genre-hopping holiday music and hard-hitting percussive dance will have you jumping out of your seat, dancing to the beat and filled with holiday spirit," a release stated.
Among the many festive wonders in store, "Holiday Shuffle" features a wildly imaginative beatboxing rendition of "The Grinch," a full-cast performance of "Linus and Lucy" ("A Charlie Brown Christmas"), five new originals and a mash-up, syncopated percussive dance medley
titled "Toy Soldier March" performed at eye-popping speeds. With their combined and highly integrated talents, the dancers and musicians are known for leaving audiences on their feet and dancing in the aisles.
"The name, Rhythmic Circus, might seem strange for a quartet of hoofers and a live band, but actually, their magnetic, high-energy shows are all about juggling a combination of dancing, humor and music-all wrapped within a bundle of positive messages," a news release stated. "It seems to be a rare occurrence where family can enjoy an evening together, with children of all ages laughing and stomping their feet alongside each other. Rhythmic Circus provides that atmosphere and entertainment."
Tickets for Rhythmic Circus are available from the CLC Theatre Box Office at 218-855-8199 or online at www.clcperformingarts.com .
The production is sponsored by Arrowwood Lodge at Brainerd Lakes. The entire CLC Performing Arts season has been made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
