Every $1 from every pint sold from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Jack Pine Brewery at 15593 Edgewood Drive in Baxter will be donated to The Shop aka Brainerd-Baxter Youth Center.

Snowshoe class at the Northland Arboretum

Do you love snowshoeing, but want to learn more?
Come to the Northland Arboretum at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, and learn about snowshoes. The class will begin indoors where you will learn snowshoeing basics and the various types of snowshoes and bindings. Class will end with a snowshoe hike through the Arboretum.
If you have a pair of snowshoes, please bring them along. Some snowshoes will be available for use.
The cost is $10 for Arb members or $20 for nonmembers. Class fee is nonrefundable

Brainerd Public Library book club to meet
Books, Burgers & Brews will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, at Prairie Bay at 15115 Edgewood Drive in Baxter for the group’s next book discussion of “Yes, Chef” by Marcus Samuelsson.
Hosts Sheila DeChantal and Laurel Hall will take you through an engaging discussion and Prairie Bay's executive chef will plan a meal that matches the book.

Attendees will be able to thoroughly enjoy a discussion and be introduced to books they may not have picked up on their own.
Books are supplied by Friends of the Brainerd Public Library and may be checked out at the Brainerd Public Library checkout counter by requesting the Books, Burgers & Brews book. The books at the library are first-come, first-serve and 25 copies have been set aside for this event.
The cost to attend the Prairie Bay event is $13.50 plus a $1.70 fee. The ticket covers the buffet and a dessert. Drinks may be purchased the night of the event separately.
