BAXTER -- The Center, whose mission in part is to encourage mature adults to engage in healthy living and socialization, will do just that when it presents The Ageless Expo from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Forestview Middle School in Baxter.

The expo will feature local and national entertainment. Local groups performing will be The Center’s Choir, Ray Promenades doing their square dancing, the Country Swingers dancing with their choreographed line dance moves and The Center’s Theater Group performing “The Code of the West.” The play is written by Diane Saumer Guidi and Kathy Tusa.

The play -- a light-hearted tale of “old west chivalry” and the fight against demon rum -- will be performed at 10 a.m. The choir will perform at 2 p.m.

On a national level, the expo will present Ronny Cox, who will be the keynote speaker. He will be on stage at 12:30 p.m. to share his love of music and his acting career.

Cox, a known performer and actor, was in movies “Deliverance,” “Robocop,” “Total Recall,” and the TV series “Apple’s Way.” He enjoys acting, but music is his passion. Cox incorporates storytelling into his performance. Cox also will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Chalberg Theatre for the Central Lakes Community Performing Arts Center’s Culture Arts Series.

“He’s known for his warmth and charm as he interacts with the audience,” a news release stated. “Not only is he personable and open, he’s had a lot of life experiences that are relatable to most people. And, he’s of a senior age where he will be a perfect match for the attendees of the expo.”

Not only will The Ageless Expo offer entertainment performances to the public, but it also will offer opportunities for mature adults to learn how to navigate through their golden years.

Crow Wing Energized will be providing health and wellness screenings. Workshops will be presented on “Fraud & Scams” by Jay Haapoela, and “Aging Eye & What You Need to Know” by Dr. Adam Ahlquist of the Great River Eye Clinic. There will be an Antique and Classic Car show in the parking area and inside there will be exhibit booths from area businesses, artist groups, craft demonstrations and more.

A food booth will be serving The Center’s doughnuts, coffee and lunch items at reasonable prices.

“Here’s your opportunity to enjoy tunes of yesteryear if you haven’t heard them yourself,” a news release stated. “Exhibit booths from various businesses in the area will be there to show you what they offer to make your aging years happier and healthier.

“This expo is free. It’s a wonderful way to spend Saturday learning, enjoying and growing.”
