The Stage North Theatre Company presents "The Odd Couple" May 14-16 at the Franklin Arts Center in Brainerd.
Stage North will produce this classic comedy by Neil Simon, now celebrating 50 years. Opening on Broadway in 1965, the concept was so successful that the script was made into a feature film in 1968, a sequel in 1998, a female stage version and two television series.
The familiar story follows two suddenly single pals, a sloppy sportswriter and a fastidious news writer, as they strain their friendship by turning roommates and unconsciously repeating the same mistakes they made in the marriages they just left.
The cast features Felix, played by Travis Chaput of Garrison; and Oscar, played by Brad Wagendorf of Brainerd. Poker buddies include Speed, played by Matt Cooper of Brainerd; Murray, played by Mark Oehrlein of Baxter; and Vinny, played by Richard Dean of Brainerd. Rounding out the cast are the British sisters who live in an apartment upstairs, Cecily and Gwendolyn Pigeon, played by Wendy DeGeest and Sadie Wunder, both of Brainerd.
Adult tickets are $10 and children under 12 are $5. Tickets are available to purchase online at stagenorththeater.com, by calling 218-232-6810 or at the door.
