Lord of Life invites people to any of its 8 Holy Week services
BAXTER — As we approach the end of March and beginning of April, Lord of Life Lutheran Church of Baxter invites people to save the date for its Holy Week worship services.
The week begins with a Palm Sunday service at 9 a.m. April 10. This year, Lord of Life will be covering the entire story of Christ’s arrival in Jerusalem, his betrayal, Crucifixion and Resurrection that Sunday.
It will also still have services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday as well. This year, those services will be at noon and 7 p.m. April 14 and April 15.
Finally, Lord of Life will end the week celebrating an empty grave and Risen Savior on Easter Sunday, April 17. Services will be held at 7 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

First Lutheran Church events announced
First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd, will have a Lenten supper from 5-5:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, in Koinonia Hall. The worship and music team will serve a baked potato bar. A freewill offering will be received with proceeds used to support youth special events.
Lenten worship will be 6 p.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary. The sermon will be “Boundless: God Beyond Measure: Forgiveness.” Guest preaching will be represented by Bethel Lutheran Church.
March is Minnesota Food Share Month and contributions are still being accepted.
The fifth Sunday of Lent will be celebrated from 9-10 a.m. Sunday, April 3, in the sanctuary and online. It is also New Member Sunday.
First Lutheran Church is working with Lutheran World Relief to assist families in Ukraine. Lutheran World Relief will match all contributions up to $422,000 with 100% of all donations applied to needs of victims. Those interested may donate in the following ways:
- By cash: write your name on the outside of an envelope. Place donation in the offering plate during worship. Attention: Judy;
- By check: make checks out to First Lutheran Church, write “LWR Ukraine” in the memo and mail to FLC, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd MN, 56401. Attention: Judy.
- Online: log onto donate.lwr.org and follow instructions to donate electronically or by credit card. (Be sure to check the “100%” box)
Bethlehem Lutheran Church activities
The Wednesday, March 30, Lenten soup/supper at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 418 Eighth Ave. NE, Brainerd, will be served by catechism students. It will be served from 5:30-6:15 p.m. Cost will be $7.
The Wednesday Lenten service utilizing the That You May Have Life liturgy begins at 6:20 p.m. with Pastor Bob Rusert from Trinity Lutheran Church preaching.
On Sunday, the Fifth Sunday in Lent will be celebrated with in-person services at 8:20 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Pastor Sarah Marshall will be preaching.

First Congregational United Church of Christ
Lenten devotions at First Congregational United Church of Christ will be 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, in-person and online.
Sunday, April 3, worship and communion will be 10 a.m. followed by an adult forum, “Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia” at 11:30 a.m.
South Long Lake Church to host Pastor Dunham
Pastor David Dunham will be speaking 9:30 a.m. Sunday, April 3, at South Long Lake Church,13152 Smart Road. Communion will be celebrated followed by coffee fellowship time.
This week at Trinity
Trinity Lutheran Church, 1420 S. Sixth St., Brainerd, will have three worship services.
On Wednesday, March 30, there will be a mid-week Lenten worship service at 6 p.m. with guest Pastor Patty Bjorklund from First Lutheran preaching and Pastor Hans Anderson assisting with the Holden Evening Prayer litany.
A soup supper will be served at 5 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.
On Sunday, April 3, there will be two worship services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with Holy Communion being served at both services. Pastor Bob Rusert will be preaching on “Determined to Be Affirming to Us!” and Pastor Hans Anderson assisting.
Way of the Cross planned
CROSBY — Way of the Cross, an annual Good Friday event, will be noon April 15. Meet at 11:45 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Crosby.
