Lord of Life participating with other ELCA churches in citywide youth group

BAXTER — This summer, Lord of Life Lutheran Church of Baxter and other Evangelical Lutheran Church of America congregations are partnering to put on citywide youth groups for middle school and high school students.

One Wednesday each month, students will meet up at an ELCA church for an evening of fun events, Bible study and meeting other people their age in the Brainerd/Baxter community.

This month, the groups meet June 15 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Middle Schoolers will meet from 6-7:30 p.m., while high schoolers meet from 7:30-9 p.m.

• Pastor Erika Nilsen will be preaching from Ezekiel 37:1-14 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 8; and 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 12.

• The Lord of Life Quilters meet 9-11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, to sort and cut fabric, lay out quilt designs and plan for the fall quilting season;

• Two men’s groups meet at the church for fellowship and reflection on faith. The first meets 9:30-11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, while the second meets 7 a.m. for Friday morning breakfast;

• Al-Anon meets 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Lord of Life for newcomers, followed by a regular meeting at 7 p.m. This organization supports individuals who have been affected by someone else’s drinking. It helps families and friends develop skills to bring positive changes to alcoholics;

• The Micah Group will meet 11 a.m. June 12;

• Individuals attending the Summer Youth Synod Journey/Michigan Trip are invited to a 7 p.m. meeting June 14 in the SonShine Room.

First Lutheran Church news

First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd, will celebrate Holy Trinity Sunday with worship in the sanctuary and online from 9-10 a.m. Sunday, June 12.

This week at Trinity

Trinity Lutheran Church, 1420 S. Sixth St., Brainerd, will have an evening worship service with Holy Communion with Pastor Sarah Marshall preaching beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday.


On Sunday, worship service with Holy Communion will be at 9 a.m. with Pastor Sarah Marshall preaching.

The Summer Stretch will meet 9 a.m. Thursday in the Gathering Area.

Malmo Church to host outdoor concert

MALMO — The Malmo Free Church will present in concert the Higher Call quartet from the Twin Cities area at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 11.

Higher Call is a male quartet that shares God’s gift of music to the surrounding community. Malmo Church is located near the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18 near the northeast corner of Lake Mille Lacs.
