Lord of Life hosts Christmas decor and bake sale

BAXTER — Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 6190 Fairview Road, Baxter, is hosting a Christmas decor and bake sale, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 19.

Guests can make a freewill offering to purchase gently used Christmas decorations with proceeds supporting Lord of Life’s annual summer youth trips.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church events

On Sunday, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 418 Eighth Ave. NE, Brainerd, will celebrate the 23rd Sunday after Pentecost with an in-person service at 8:20 a.m. with Pastor Mark Skinner preaching.

The 10:30 a.m. Bethlehem Overdrive Worship in-person service will also be livestreamed. The livestream can be viewed at . The service will be put on after its completion for later viewing.


Men’s Bible study will meet at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. Assisting minister training will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday. New member orientation will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

First Lutheran Church news

First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd, will celebrate the 23rd Sunday after Pentecost with worship in the sanctuary and online at 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 13.

Pastor Patty Bjorklund and Pastor Jordan Gades will preach and preside.

During the service, there will be a dedication of school kits for Lutheran World Relief. Sunday is also Faith Promise Sunday, the culmination of the 2023 Stewardship Drive.

Following worship, in celebration of Faith Promise Sunday, coffee and Norwegian waffles will be prepared and served in Koinonia Hall from 10-11 a.m.

Men’s breakfast Bible study led by Pastor Jordan Gades, will meet 8:30-9:30 a.m. Nov. 14, at The Sidetrack, 18071 State Highway 371, Brainerd.

South Long Lake Church to have Klasky speak

Pastor Al Klasky will speak at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at South Long Lake Church, located at the intersection of State Highway 25 and 13152 Smart Road.

The service will be streaming live on Facebook.

Cookie walk, craft bazaar and lunch planned

Park United Methodist Women in Faith announces the return of the cookie walk, craft bazaar and lunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12.

There'll be lots of cookies to choose from, craft items and a chicken salad sandwich, cookie and fruit for $5.

This week at Trinity

Trinity Lutheran Church, 1420 S. Sixth St., Brainerd, will have three worship services.

On Wednesday, Nov. 9, there will be a midweek worship service at 6 p.m. with Holy Communion being served.

The Wednesday evening meal will be served at 5 p.m. in the Gathering Area. The First Communion class will be 5:15 p.m. Confirmation parent/youth night will be 7 p.m. at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter.

On Saturday, Nov. 12, the annual boutique and bake sale will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the Trinity Cafe serving a variety of soups from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The fall boutique will feature “You Betcha Corner,” Granny’s Pantry, Cabin Fever, Holiday Inspirations, Attic Treasures and bake sale with lefse and Scandinavian goodies. Caramel rolls and beverages will be served throughout the sale with a soup luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Doug's Trinity Cafe.

On Sunday, Nov. 13, there will be two traditional worship services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with Holy Communion being served. The 8:15 a.m. service will be rebroadcast on KVBR 1340 Radio at 9 a.m. and livestreamed on YouTube. Coffee hour will follow at 9:15 a.m. in the Gathering Area. Education Hour will begin at 9:30 a.m. The Prayer Group will meet from 9:30-10:15 a.m.


On Tuesday, Nov. 15, the Quilters will meet at 9 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. The Vision Council will meet at 6 p.m. in the church office.

Eckankar to host free open discussion

Can animals experience divine love? Do animals go to heaven when they die? People who love their pets may know the answers to these questions.

Those interested can join the free open discussion in person from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Brainerd Public Library, 416 S. Fifth St. Brainerd.
