The Wednesday evening meal for Dec. 1 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 418 Eighth Ave. NE, Brainerd, is hamburgers. It’ll be served from 5:15 p.m. until 6:20 p.m. or when it’s gone. Cost is $7.
The Advent Wednesday evening service using the Holden Evening Prayer liturgy begins at 6:20 p.m. with Pastor Mark Skinner preaching.
Catechism and the high school youth group will meet at 7 p.m. Senior Choir will rehearse at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, Bethlehem Lutheran will celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent with in-person services with communion at 8:20 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Mark Skinner preaching. The 10:30 a.m. service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/bethlehem.brainerd . The service will be put on www.belcnet.net after its completion for later viewing. Sunday school will begin at 9:25 a.m. Sunday.
Men’s Bible study takes place Tuesdays at 7:30 a.m.

This week at Trinity
Trinity Lutheran Church, 1420 S. Sixth St., Brainerd, has scheduled three worship services for this week.
On Wednesday, Dec. 1, there will be a worship service with Holy Communion at 6 p.m. with Pastor Hans Anderson preaching. A meal will be served in the Fellowship Hall beginning at 5 p.m. First Communion class will be 5:15 p.m. Sixth through eighth grade Confirmation students will meet for a Servant project in the Sanctuary at 6:45 p.m. There will be a choir rehearsal at 5:15 p.m.
On Sunday, Dec. 5, there will be two worship services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Pastor Hans Anderson will be preaching at both services with Holy Communion being served. The Sunday service will be broadcast at 9 a.m. on KVBR 1340 Radio and the 8:15 a.m. service is livestreamed. Sermons are posted on Facebook.
The traditional Advent Festival will be from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. This is an intergenerational event with holiday music, refreshments and several craft projects. Sunday school classes will not be meeting.
First Lutheran Church news
On Sunday, Dec. 5, First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd, will celebrate The Second Sunday of Advent with worship services at 9 a.m. in the Sanctuary and online. ELCA Bishop Amy Odgren will preach and preside during the service and for the Installation of Pastor Jordan Gades, who was recently called to be associate pastor at First Lutheran Church. Holy Communion will be celebrated.
Masks are required.
The 9 a.m. worship service will be broadcast on YouTube and Facebook.
Soup supper will be 5:15 p.m. Dec. 8 in Koinonia Hall.

Celebrate Advent with a weekly devotional group at Lord of Life
BAXTER — To celebrate the season of Advent, Lord of Life Lutheran Church of Baxter is hosting a weekly group to reflect on the season and Advent poetry.
On Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 22, the group will meet at 4:30 p.m. in Lord of Life’s Room 1.
During the sessions, the group will look at Bible passages and poems from Author Mary Oliver’s “Devotions” Collection. For those who don’t have the book, there’s no need to purchase a copy to participate in the group.

Advent leads into Christmas at Baxter’s Prince of Peace Lutheran Church
BAXTER — Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 1, and continuing into Christmas morning, Prince of Peace in Baxter will host midweek Advent services at 6:45 pm. Wednesdays (Dec. 1, 8 and 15).
St. Francis Community Chorale presents annual Christmas concert
LITTLE FALLS — St. Francis Music Center invites the public to the St. Francis Community Chorale Christmas Concert at 2 p.m. Dec. 12 at First Lutheran Church, 2100 Riverview Drive, Little Falls, due to COVID restrictions.
The concert, titled “There’s a Light a Coming!” features the 45-member St. Francis Chorale singing Christmas music. The community chorale is directed by Barb Stumpf and accompanied by Vicki Spofford.
Also performing will be the St. Francis Brass Ensemble directed by David Gouker. The ensemble will begin playing Christmas carols at 1:45 p.m. Other St. Francis Music Center musicians will also be featured.
The concert is free.
