Ravenhill to speak
David Ravenhill, a teacher and author, will speak at 7 p.m. Friday at the Brainerd Church of the Nazarene and at 7 p.m. Saturday and 6 p.m. Sunday at the Heritage Assemblies of God.
The event is in conjunction with Remnant Ministries, New Beginnings Bible Church and the Merrifield Church of the Nazarene.
Stevens to speak in Deerwood
DEERWOOD - Evangelist Norman Stevens will be speaking at Deerwood Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday as well as Monday through Wednesday, 7 p.m. each evening. Stevens speaks from the Bible to refresh, encourage and convict. Each session will be different.

Pancake breakfast
A pancake breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hillman. Cost: adults: $7; under 10, $3; under 5, free.
Adult forum
“Voter Identification” is the topic at First Congregational United Church of Christ’s Adult Forum on Sunday following the 10 a.m. worship service. A brief video will be shown followed by discussion of the pros and cons of requiring voter identification in the state of Minnesota.
Trinity Lutheran Church activities
Trinity Lutheran Church of Brainerd will be offering the God and Family program for fourth and fifth graders of Protestant and independent Christian congregations for six weeks beginning Feb. 29. Families that do not have a “religious home” are welcome to attend.
This curriculum from P.R.A.Y. (Program for Religious Activities for Youth) is designed to help youth understand the importance of family and God’s role in a healthy family. The God and Family religious emblems program for Protestants was created in the 1950s and continues to be promoted by the Christian community.
The fourth and fifth graders will meet different families from the Bible who teach about God’s plan for strengthening families. The weekly lessons are reinforced with family projects. The classes will meet from 6:45-8 p.m. Wednesday evening. Families may come early for the evening meal served in Fellowship Hall beginning at 5:15 p.m. and are welcome to attend the Wednesday 6 p.m. service.

Ash Wednesday worship service
Lent begins next week and Bethlehem Lutheran Church, ELCA, will have an Ash Wednesday worship service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The 6:30 p.m. Wednesday Lenten worship will continue through Holy Week. Methodist Church Ash Wednesday services
Emily United Methodist and Pine River United Methodist will be having an Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Pine River United Methodist Church.
Ashes and Holy Communion
There will be ashes and Holy Communion at a noon service Wednesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. We will also be joining in the Ecumenical Service at Park United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. that evening.

Pizza Ranch fund raiser planned
On Monday, the First Lutheran (Brainerd) youth who will be attending the National Youth Gathering will be holding a fund raiser at Pizza Ranch in Baxter. A portion of all evening meal dine-in sales and tips will go to the FLC Youth Group.
Lenten services
The Lenten worship schedule begins at First Lutheran Church, 424 South Eighth St., Brainerd, on Wednesday. Each Wednesday in Lent, services will be held at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Lenten Soup suppers will be served beginning at 5:15 p.m. The theme for Lent this year is “Walking with Jesus to the Cross.” Services on Ash Wednesday will include imposition of ashes and Holy Communion.
Confirmation Mentor Orientation
Confirmation Mentor Orientation will take place on Wednesday following the second Ash Wednesday service at 7 p.m. Confirmation students and their mentors will meet each Wednesday through Lent after the 7 p.m. Lenten service. On Wednesdays during Lent, the FLC bell choir will meet at 5 p.m. and the Senior Choir and Senior Youth Group will meet at 6 p.m.
Ash Wednesday services at Trinity Lutheran
Trinity Lutheran Church of Brainerd will observe Ash Wednesday at 6 p.m. Wednesday with a traditional worship service with Holy Communion and the imposition of ashes. Pastor David Holte will be preaching.

First Presbyterian Church has new pastor
The Rev. C. Edward Morgan begins serving as interim pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Brainerd this week. Morgan comes to Brainerd as a “retired” minister after having served Presbyterian churches in Pennsylvania, Iowa and Minnesota, the most recent being the Presbyterian Church in St. Cloud. He is a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and obtained a doctor of ministry degree, with emphasis in church revitalization, from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago.
Morgan and his wife, Ingrid, reside in Sauk Rapids and have two adult children.
