Brainerd Lakes Catholic Churches will host the Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession on Sunday, June 6, preceding the 11:15 a.m. Mass at St. Francis of the Lakes Catholic Church. This procession of the blessed sacrament will begin at St. Francis, 404 N. Ninth St., Brainerd, and end with a benediction at St. Andrew’s Church, 1108 Willow St.
Bus service between parking lots will be provided as well as ride-along transportation for those unable to walk the full distance.
The Corpus Christi is a medieval devotion that began in order to encourage public proclamation in the Catholic belief in the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist. The procession is led by Christ in the Monstrance with clergy, servers, Knights of Columbus and the faithful singing hymns of praise throughout town. The procession stops at various altars placed in town between St. Francis and St. Andrew’s Church. This procession conveys a prominent outward expression of the community’s faith in the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist, and shows unity of faith amongst all Catholic parishes.
This display of faith is sponsored by All Saints, St. Andrew’s, St. Francis, St. Mathias and St. Thomas of the Pines Catholic Churches. The event is open to the public.
