‘Imagine No Malaria’
The members of Grace United Methodist Church are responding to a call from the Minnesota Annual Conference and the General Conference of the world-wide church to eradicate malaria in sub-Saharan Africa by the year 2015. The program is called “Imagine No Malaria.”
During the month of October the congregation has been made aware of this devastating disease. A bed net is set up in the gathering space of the church to show the importance of protecting people while they sleep. In Africa, an innocent child dies of malaria every 45 seconds.
The strategy that will be used to complete this goal is to offer prevention via treated bed nets, treatment through life-saving medicines, training of volunteers in Africa and various forms of communication.
On Sunday, the movie “A Killer in the Dark” will be shown immediately following the 9 a.m. worship service. Actress Pauley Perrette, from the television show NCIS, narrates this informative documentary. The public is invited to join us for this event. A chili buffet featuring ground nut stew (African chicken chili) will be served following the movie.
Grace UMC is located 1.7 miles south of the lights in Pequot Lakes. Call 568-5755 for more information.
