■ Rally Sunday at Trinity Lutheran

“Rally Sunday” at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd will be conducted on Sunday. This is beginning of the fall worship schedule with two services on Sunday at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with Holy Communion. The “Rally Sunday” services will be highlighted with special music along with the “Lift High the Cross” finale. Pastor Dave Holte will deliver the message. There will be a special dedication of commitment service to the ELC program of “God’s Work. Our Hands,” a program of community service. Sunday school for 3-year-olds through 5th graders will be held between services.

Also, an ice cream and pie social will be held from 9-11 a.m. which is sponsored by the Trinity Health Ministry Team. The Sundae Sunday will be held in the Fellowship Hall.

The Wednesday night services will continue to be held at 6 p.m. This is an informal 30-minute service with contemporary music and Holy Communion.

■ First Lutheran Church events

First Lutheran Church, Brainerd, will have services at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday for Rally and “God’s work. Our hands.” Sunday.

Sunday school begins for the 2013-2014 session at 9:15 a.m. There will be carnival activities for children to start off the new year of classes.

“Meet and Potatoes” programming kicks off on Wednesday with supper at 5 p.m. and worship service at 5:30 p.m. - both in the Koinonia. Christian Education (age 3 – grade 6 and confirmation grade 7-9) is at 6:30 p.m. and the senior high youth group meets at 7 p.m.

Adult Bible study groups will meet either at 9:15 a.m. or at 6:30 p.m. Contact the FLC office if you would like to sign up.

■ Prayer gathering

A prayer gathering is scheduled for 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Gregory Park in Brainerd. Organizers of the event said that as we remember those who lost their lives almost 12 years ago on Sept. 11, 2001, we will gather together to remember and to pray for God’s will to be done in His world, the United States of America, Minnesota and all the other states, central Minnesota, the Brainerd lakes area and in our own personal lives, as it already is in Heaven. All interested persons are invited to pray at Gregory Park by the fountain this Sunday from 2-3 p.m., at the intersection of North Sixth Street and Juniper Street. Those attending are asked to bring a Bible, a lawn chair and a friend. The group will use 2 Chronicles 7:14 as the theme for prayer time. The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ intercedes for us in Romans 8:34 and we, as disciples of Christ, are to intercede for others, event organizers said.

■ CCC AWANA
kickoff planned

NISSWA - Christ Community Church, 24646 Hazelwood Drive, Nisswa, will have its 2013-2014 AWANA registration kickoff/ice cream social at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Come and get registered, meet your teachers and enjoy some ice cream. The first “regular” night of AWANA will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 18 with a family fellowship dinner beginning at 5:15 p.m.

■ CCC to move
to one service

NISSWA - Beginning Sunday, Christ Community Church in Nisswa will move to one worship service at 10 a.m. with a coffee fellowship time from 9:30-10 a.m. This change will be in effect until Memorial Day.

■ Bus trip to
Plymouth Playhouse

The Park United Methodist Seniors has a block of tickets for the Plymouth Playhouse presentation of the “Church Basement Ladies - The Last Potluck Supper” for the Sunday matinee on Oct. 6, with the chartered bus leaving from the Sixth Street entrance to Park United Methodist at 9:45 a.m. (Pack a sandwich for the trip to the play). Cost of the trip for play, bus and tips will be $55, with reservations and payment due by Sept. 25. The public is invited to join the group, and reservations and payments can be made by calling 829-4116, the church office.

The play plot has the church basement ladies celebrating the 1979 church Centennial Celebration, and past parishioners have gathered to share hotdish, bars, and stories from the past 100 years, and manage to serve up rib-tickling memories of the changes in the kitchen, without spilling a drop of their egg coffee.

■ Zion Lutheran Church activities

Zion Lutheran Church, 220 North Eighth St., Brainerd, will continue with one worship service on Sundays at 9 a.m. and one service on Mondays at 6 p.m. for the rest of the year.

On Sept. 8, the Board of Education will be hosting a pancake breakfast to kick off the Sunday School and Bible studies for the year. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 8:45 a.m. before service and again after service from 10:15-11:15 a.m. Parents may register their children for Sunday school during breakfast. Sunday school classes will begin Sept. 15 from 10:15-11:30 a.m. There will also be an adult Bible class at this time.

Confirmation classes will begin from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Also on Wednesday evenings, the Contemporary Worship Team will rehearse at 5:30 p.m. and adult choir at 6:30 p.m.

We are looking for a handbell choir director. Anyone interested, contact the church office at 829-4317 Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

■ Rally Sunday at Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church, 5878 Pine Beach Road, Brainerd, is prepared for Rally Sunday with classes at 9 a.m. for 3-year-olds through sixth grade. Seventh and eighth grade meeting with the pastor for confirmation, high school youth meet. Adult classes are studying Isaiah. Worship will be at 10 a.m. with Pastor Gary giving the message. Music with the worship team and the youth will be giving a puppet message. Fellowship coffee following the service. For more information call the church office at 824-3052.
