Taize Prayer set for Thursday

LITTLE FALLS -- The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls invite all Christians to join them for Taize Prayer 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in the Gathering Space at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls. Taize Prayer is a reflective, meditative prayer experience that includes sung chants. Gather for an hour with the beauty of lighted candles, the San Damiano Cross, songs, chants, Scripture readings, petitionary prayers and contemplative silence to experience Christ’s presence.

Taize Prayer is open to the public; people of all Christian traditions are welcome to attend.

Trinity Lutheran Church events

Trinity Lutheran Church, 1420 S. Sixth St., Brainerd, will have its bi-annual business meeting following the 8:15 a.m. worship service Sunday, Nov. 3.

Church President David Lust will be presiding at the meeting. The meeting will include the election of officers and approval of 2020 budget.

Two worship services with Holy Communion will be 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Hans Anderson preaching.

On Friday, Nov. 8, the men’s Bible study will meet at 9:30 a.m. in the Gathering Area.

Annual fall bazaar at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church

GARRISON -- The annual Fall Bazaar, sponsored by Lutheran Women's Missionary League, will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 9 at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Garrison.

There will be lefse, craft items, bake sale, Grandpa's Shed and Grandma's Attic.

A luncheon of soup and fresh garlic bread, homemade pies, coffee and lemonade will be available.

Bethel Lutheran Church events

Pastor Beth Pottratz will lead the 9 a.m. Sunday worship service at Bethel Lutheran celebrating All Saints Day.

Worship will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

On Wednesday, the church council will meet at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

Spirit of Christmas Bazaar planned

CROSBY -- Immanuel Lutheran Church, 600 Fourth St. SW, Crosby, will have its Spirit of Christmas Bazaar 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 9.

There will be crafts ranging from furniture to photography, wearables and jewelry, fresh wreaths to handmade cards and paintings. Lefse will also be available. There will be personalized ornaments, baked and canned goods and confections. The popular store for "Kids Only" will welcome kids up to age 12.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church events

Join Women in Mission (open to all women) at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 418 Eighth Ave. NE, Brainerd, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 2, as they tie blankets for Lutheran World Relief. The only skill needed is the ability to tie a knot.

This Sunday, Bethlehem Lutheran Church will celebrate All Saints Sunday at the 8:20 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services.

Deceased loved ones will be honored with a ringing bell during Remembrance of All Saints within each service. After receiving communion, those in attendance will have the opportunity to light a candle in memory of loved ones.

The Itty Bitty Book Bunch will meet at 9:30 a.m. During Adult Forum at 9:30 a.m., Marcia Ferris from Lutheran Social Service will talk about the Neighbor to Neighbor Program.

During the week, Bethlehem Book Club will meet 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

A new member seminar will be 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The Men’s Bible Study and Breakfast Group will meet at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Rev. Mark Skinner will lead an overview of the Bible focusing on the Old Testament at 7 p.m. Thursday.

First Lutheran Church events

On Sunday, Nov. 3, First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd, will celebrate All Saints Sunday with two worship services at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Interim Pastor Loren Anderson-Bauer will be the liturgist and deliver the sermon. Nathan Richards will provide the children’s sermon.

During coffee fellowship, the youths will be selling candy bars to raise funds for 2020 Camperships and their Montana High Adventure trip.

On Friday, Nov. 8, the men of First Lutheran Church will meet for breakfast/Bible study at 7 a.m. at Northwind Grille, 603 Laurel St., Brainerd.

Coffee and Prayer group recently moved to the second Saturday of each month. The group will meet 10-11 a.m. Nov. 9 in Koinonia Hall.

Intercessory Prayer Time

Intercessory Prayer Time will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Park United Methodist Church, 315 N. Sixth St., Brainerd.

Bring a Bible and a friend or family member. The group will gather to pray for God’s will to be done in the lives of all the people of His World, the United States of America, all the states, especially Minnesota, all the counties, especially the five county area around the Brainerd lakes and in our own personal lives.

The theme of the event will be using the verses in the Bible from 2 Chronicles 7:14, 2 Peter 3:9, Matthew 28:18-20 and Philippians 2:10-11.

Brainerd man appointed as local bishop

Officials from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently announced Dennis Howard, Brainerd, has been assigned to serve as bishop of the Brainerd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

As bishop, Howard will provide leadership for church members within the boundaries of the Brainerd Ward comprised of the communities of Brainerd-Baxter, Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Pine River and Pillager.

Howard, who works as a registered nurse at the Brainerd Lakes Surgery Center in Brainerd, has served in various assignments for the church. His duties will include membership affairs, youth programs, missionary work, community relations and financial management.

Serving with Howard will be James Tropp as First Counselor and Nathan Hilton as Second Counselor.

St. Francis Catholic Church, 404 Ninth St. N., Brainerd, will have its annual bazaar 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 9.

There will be caramel rolls for $1 sold 8:30-10 a.m. and a soup and pie luncheon 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be hot dogs and chips.

There will be crafts, a bake sale, pick-a-prize, a raffle and Granny’s Attic.
