Lord of Life Lutheran Church events

BAXTER — Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 6190 Fairview Road, Baxter, has expanded the Sunday morning activities available to all.

The parking lot worship service with Holy Communion at 9 a.m. and drive-up Holy Communion at 10:30-11 a.m. will continue through October. The 9 a.m. service is livestreamed; find it at www.youtube.com/user/LordofLifeBaxter. In addition, Coffee Time fellowship will be open to all via Zoom at 10-10:30 a.m. each Sunday; call the church office at 218-828-9374 to obtain the Zoom ID number.

Lord of Life has also begun a new book study with access available on the same Zoom ID as the Coffee Time, at 10:45-11:45 a.m. each Sunday morning. “Dear Church, A Love Letter from a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the U.S.” by Lenny Duncan will be the focus of the book study.

There are many youth programs happening at Lord of Life. Wednesday evenings there are programs for youths in fifth through 12th grades. The family-focused “Club 56” (fifth and sixth grades), followed by the confirmation program (7-9 grades). Currently those programs are all meeting online.

The high school youth group, “Teens Upstream,” is meeting around the campfire at church this fall. It’s not too late to register for any of the programs listed above.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church events

On Sunday, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 418 Eighth Ave. NE, Brainerd, will celebrate the Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost with a drive-in service with communion at 8:45 a.m.

Pastor Sarah Marshall will be preaching. First communion will be celebrated by a number of youths. Arrive early, stay in the car and park in the designated lot.

The 10:30 a.m. service is now open to a limited number of people. Pre-register at www.belcnet.net.

Note masks will be worn; there will be social distancing; there will be no group singing and the nursery and prayerground will be closed. This service will also be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/bethlehem.brainerd. The service will be on www.belcnet.net after its completion for later viewing.

First Lutheran Church activities

On Sunday, Oct. 18, First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd, will have worship in the church parking lot which extends from the north side of Anderson Cleaners to Maple Street and from South Eighth Street to The Office Shop.

Pastor Loren Anderson-Bauer, interim, will deliver the message. Tune to 97.7FM.

Those planning to attend should enter the parking lot via South Eighth Street and follow the directions provided by the parking lot attendants. If there is a 50% or more chance of inclement weather for Sunday, the worship service will be canceled. Tune to 106.7 FM for cancelation notices.

Because new cases of COVID-19 in Crow Wing County have exceeded 30 cases per 10,000 population for a two-week period (based on the Minnesota Department of Health, Weekly Report – Oct. 8), First Lutheran Church is suspending in-person worship until the infection rate in the county decreases.This follows the protocols approval by church council on Sept. 29.

South Long Lake Church to host Bosserman

Pastor Mark Bosserman will be preaching Sunday at South Long Lake Church, 13152 Smart Road, Brainerd.

This week at Trinity

Trinity Lutheran Church, 1420 S. Sixth St., Brainerd, will have two indoor worship services at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, and 9 a.m. Sunday.

Holy Communion will be served at both services. The Sunday services are broadcast live on KVBR 1340 and livestreamed on YouTube at 9 a.m.

Following the Wednesday evening worship service on Oct. 14 , the 14 Confirmation students will present their Faith Statements before being confirmed Oct. 25.

There will be no Education Hour or Coffee Hour on Sunday.

Following the Sunday service, the bi-annual congregational meeting will take place to elect officers and adopt the budget for 2021.

The Trinity collection center for “Coats for Kids” will end on Sunday but coats can be taken to Brainerd and Crosby Crystal Cleaners.

Registration for Trinity families wishing to participate with their cars in the upcoming “Trunk or Treat” parking lot party 3-5 p.m. Oct. 31 may contact the church office. Lefse sale planned at Shepherd of the Lake

GARRISON — Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, in Garrison will be hosting a lefse sale 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct 17.

Lefse will be sold at the church. Orders will also be taken before and after the sale by calling Marge at 218-678-2965 or Linda at 763-568-6188.
