Bethlehem Lutheran Church events planned
Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 418 Eighth Ave. NE, Brainerd, will celebrate the 20th Sunday of Pentecost with a drive-in service at 8:20 a.m.
Trinity Lutheran Church services and events
On Wednesday, Oct. 6, there will be an indoor worship evening service at 6 p.m. with Pastor Hans Anderson preaching. Holy Communion will be served.
Wednesday evening meals continue at 5 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall featuring chili and barley soups.
Following the evening service, Confirmation workshop will be meeting in the Fellowship Hall and a mentor/student get-together in the Gathering Area at 6:45 p.m. First Communion classes will meet at 5:15 p.m.
On Sunday, Oct. 10, there will be two indoor worship services at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with Bishop Amy Ogden of the Northwest ELCA Synod preaching and Holy Communion will be served. Sermons are posted on Facebook.

Lord of Life’s ‘Live Free’ Campaign to kickoff this month
BAXTER — For its Fall Stewardship Campaign this year, Lord of Life Lutheran Church of Baxter is inviting people to “Live Free.”
“Helping its members and others live free when it comes to money is key to meeting the financial needs of Lord of Life’s ministries,” the Lord of Life Generosity Team said in a news release.
The campaign will begin Oct. 24 and will include members of Lord of Life’s staff and council speaking about its ministries, integration into Confirmation classes and small group events.

Collectibles and bake sale set for Oct. 23
GARRISON — Light of the Cross Lutheran Church in Garrison is having a Christmas Decor/Collectibles and Bake Sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 23.
St. Francis hosts ‘Well Read Mom’ founder
St. Francis Catholic Church will host Marcie Stokman, founder and president of the International Book Club, “Well-Read Mom” with two events Oct. 9.
Stokman will provide a morning workshop and be the keynote presenter at night. Both events are free, with refreshments and giveaways. These events are not just for moms, all parishioners and community members are invited to participate.
Beginning in Crosby, Minnesota in 2012, the “Well Read Mom” book club now encompasses hundreds of groups in all 50 states and several countries, with over 3,000 women participating.
Stokman’s morning workshop, titled "The Beauty of Reading.. especially together," will be from 9-11 a.m. in the St. Francis Social Hall. Participants will read and discuss two short stories. See how in changing times, the simple proposal to stay together to read and discuss books can have an impact on our personal growth, our families and the culture. Coffee, rolls and fruit will be served. Each participant will receive a 150th journal and bag. This event is free and open to the public.
The keynote presentation will be at 7 p.m. in the St. Francis Church Sanctuary following the 5 p.m. Mass and a 6 p.m. beverage and appetizer social hour in the social hall.
This event is part of the year-long 150th anniversary celebration of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Knights of Columbus to distribute winter coats to local children
PEQUOT LAKES — The Pequot Lakes Knights of Columbus Council 11965 in Pequot Lakes will be distributing coats from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9., at the Cole Memorial Building, 4285 Tower Square.
