Fall bazaar planned for Oct. 21

GARRISON—The Lutheran Women's Missionary League's annual fall bazaar will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, Highway 169, one mile north of the "Y" in Garrison.

There will be lefse, craft items, bake sale, pasties, Grandpa's Shed and Grandma's Attic. A luncheon of soup and fresh bread, homemade pies, coffee and lemonade will be available.

Alzheimer's presentation at Christ Lutheran

BAXTER—A presentation on Alzheimer's will be given 10:15 a.m. Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, 13815 Cherrywood Drive, Baxter.

The presenter is Pastor Curt Seefeldt of The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. The presentation and discussion offers participants a starting point for understanding Alzheimer's diagnosis and treatment, ideas for caregiving that are spiritually and emotionally uplifting, and answers to questions about God's goodness.

There is no charge for this event, but a freewill offering will be gathered. Lunch will be served.

Spaghetti dinner and silent auction set

BREEZY POINT—Eagles Nest Church in Breezy Point is having a community spaghetti dinner and silent auction from 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday.

Ticket prices are $9 for ages 13 and up; $5 for kids 6-12; and children under 5, free.

Funds raised will go to the women's ministry to help with the outreach to hurting women in our community.

Tania Melby, women's ministry director, will share how this ministry was birthed out of her own brokenness and the many similar stories and cries for help of women in her church and community.

Visiting pastor at Brainerd Laestadian

The Brainerd Laestadian Lutheran Church will have a visiting pastor, Dan Parks, of Menahga, for the Sunday morning worship service at 11 a.m. at 1501 S. Eighth St., Brainerd.

FLC to show 'Luther'

As part of the Reformation 500 observance, First Lutheran Church of Brainerd will host a showing of the 2003 "Luther" movie at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 in the fellowship hall (Koinonia) at 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd.

There will be popcorn. Freewill offering will be collected.

Annual bake and rummage sale planned at Bethel Lutheran

Bethel Lutheran Church, South Long Lake, will have its annual bake and rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The sale will feature pies, breads, bars, cookies, canned goods, produce, quilts, dishcloths and crafts.

Funds raised will go to update the church's sound system.

The youth rummage sale is a Thrivent Action Team Event and includes clothing, household items, books, toys, and much miscellaneous.

Proceeds will be used to purchase holiday gifts for area children.

A luncheon of sloppy Joes, pie and coffee will be served during the sale.

Aitkin United Methodist fall bazaar set

AITKIN—The Aitkin United Methodist fall bazaar will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

There will be an auction, Grandma's Kitchen, garden produce, bake sale, napkins and greeting cards, craft items, lefse, Fair Trade coffee and a sloppy Joe lunch and coffee served all day.

Harvest festival planned at Immanuel Lutheran

HILLMAN—Immanuel Lutheran Church of Hillman will have its annual harvest festival Thursday.

A potluck meal will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. followed by music by the Social Security Express from 7-8 p.m., playing old and new country music.

A silent auction will also be from 5:30 to 8:15 p.m.

Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina set

LITTLE FALLS—The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls invite the public to join them for Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina (Sacred Reading) from 6-7 p.m. Thursday in the Gathering Space at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls.

Centering Prayer is an ancient and contemporary way of prayer. In a small group, persons gather for 20-30 minutes to pray in quiet, listening with openness to God's presence and action in our lives. Centering Prayer is experiencing a relationship with God as well as a discipline to foster that relationship. It is a movement beyond conversation with God to communion with God. That is followed by "Lectio Divina," a reflection on the coming Sunday Scriptures. No need to pre-register.

Fall harvest turkey dinner planned

MOTLEY—A fall harvest turkey dinner will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Motley United Methodist Church, 847 Third Ave. South Lane, Motley.

Adults: $10; children 6-12, $5; children 5 and under, free.
