This year's Crow Wing County Fair includes something you've never seen before--a live debate among vegetables!
Crow Wing Energized is launching One Vegetable One Community at the Crow Wing County Fair. The initiative strives to unite the community by encouraging people to plant, grow, cook and or/share a single vegetable. The aim is to see the vegetable of the year growing in kitchen gardens, community and school gardens, containers on front porches, in front of businesses, faith-based organizations, and government buildings. Through sharing growing, preparation, cooking, and storing information, One Vegetable One Community starts a conversation in the community about food, nutrition and how Crow Wing County can support healthier choices.
Five vegetables were selected as front runners:
Peppers
Carrots
Zucchini
Tomato
Green beans
But which will be THE ONE? Come to the Mills Free Stage at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, to listen to each vegetable campaign for why they are the best. You may just recognize some local faces behind the costumes!
