FREEPORT - One person was found dead after authorities responded to an early morning house fire Tuesday in downtown Freeport in central Minnesota.
Two other individuals at the home were able to get out of the house and were treated for smoke inhalation, according to a news release from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.
Names were being withheld pending notification of relatives.
The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire, but according to an early report from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, the house was engulfed in flames when the Freeport Fire Department arrived at 3:35 a.m.
Three people were in the home on 1st Avenue South at the time of the fire. Two escaped and were treated at the scene by Melrose Ambulance personnel.

A third person was found dead in the house. The body was being sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, according to the sheriff's office.
Freeport is about 30 miles west of St. Cloud along Interstate 94.
