FERGUS FALLS - A 13-year-old girl is accused of starting a fire in a home in Fergus Falls and stealing items from the residence.
The fire call at 722 Northern Ave., came about 3:35 p.m. Tuesday, while Fergus Falls Police were interviewing the girl for a different investigation. The girl reportedly told the police then that she committed the fire.
The fire was not substantial enough to displace the family but did damage the living room carpet and paint. There was no structural damage. The stolen items were also recovered.
The girl was sent to Moorhead Detention Center Tuesday and will be brought back to Otter Tail County District Court for potential burglary and arson charges.
