WADENA - A 14-year-old male was shot near his ear in a handgun accident Thursday morning at a residence in northeastern Otter Tail County and was transferred by helicopter to a Twin Cities hospital.
The shooting occurred at a home about five miles north of Bluffton or about 10 miles northwest of Wadena.
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office, which assisted at the scene, indicated the boy was "messing around" with a .38 caliber handgun. He was bloody but still breathing, the report said.
An ambulance transported him to Tri-County Health Care in Wadena, where he was transferred by helicopter to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minn.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s office is in charge of the investigation.
