CROSSLAKE — Two snowmobiles went through thin ice the evening of Saturday, Dec. 21, near the channel between Rush and Whitefish lakes in Crosslake.

A 51-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were operating the snowmobiles, which fell through about 8 p.m., the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office reported. Prior to law enforcement arrival, Todd Cory Wille, 51, of Pine River, and Ben Mason Wille, 17, of Ham Lake, made it out of the water and onto shore.

Todd Wille was transported to the hospital by North Memorial Ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries. Ben Wille was transported to a cabin. The snowmobilers were advised to contact the sheriff’s office when the machines were removed from the water.

The Crosslake Police Department also assisted at the scene.
