What do you want to accomplish if elected? "I want to continue to be a part of Cass County government, we have a great group of department heads and employees to run Cass County. Cass has no debt and the lowest tax levy in the area thanks to a great staff, our citizens budget committee, to the board of commissioners."

Specifically, how will you accomplish your goals? "I will continue to listen to the taxpayers of Cass as they are the ones who pay the bills we will continue the road projects, sheriff's protection, and the other services the county provides."

What abilities or qualifications separate you from your competition? Why are you the best candidate for the job? "I hope that I have done a job worthy of the task that the voters trusted me with over the past 16 years. I would appreciate your vote on Nov. 8. Thanks for the past support."

Phil Kinnunen

Public office experience: No previous elected public offices held.

What do you want to accomplish if elected? "Work to harness retiring baby boomers moving to the area with years of experience and ideas, who are interested in starting new businesses or working with established ones. More jobs for young couples will prevent them from moving away, which in turn will help to grow the local economy."

Specifically, how will you accomplish your goals? "Continued support of the Cass County Economic Development Corporation in aiding new business start-ups is part of encouraging useful business growth. Stress on Health and Human Services as well as emergency medical and law enforcement, are going to be ongoing and subject to increased unfunded federal mandates. Increases in property tax levies can be kept lower by partnering with surrounding counties and municipalities in areas that make sense, snowplowing, law enforcement, social services."
