Why are you the best candidate for the job? "I have learned through experience to make decisions based on facts not emotion, seeking ideas and solutions by involving others, and allowing all ideas to be explored, allowing the best to come to the surface.

I want to open communications with the citizens of Nisswa."

Public office experience: 25-plus years city council experience, eight-plus years planning commission member, vice chair Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport Commission, 20 years cable television board member.

Why are you the best candidate for the job? "I currently serve on the Nisswa council and am the only candidate who has attended almost every Nisswa council and planning and zoning meeting over the last four years. I am aware of the issues in the city. I have city council experience, having been elected seven times before retiring to Nisswa. I served on the Nisswa Road Standards Committee, the Cable Communications Committee and am vice chair of the Lakes Area Food Shelf. I have the time, energy, knowledge and I believe the talent to serve all Nisswa citizens. I respectfully ask you consider me for your vote."

Bill Cruz

Age: 51.

City: Nisswa.

Occupation: Elementary education, business owner, community volunteer.

Public office experience: Have not held public office but have interacted with those who have/ are.

Why are you the best candidate for the job? "Nisswa is my home, me and my family built a house, own and operate a business and raise my children here as did my wife's family many years ago. Nisswa is no longer a seasonal community, it has grown and growing and we need to think of all those who live here. I strongly believe in accountability for the citizens who are served by the city's departments and should ask whether we are getting all the bang for our bucks. I am an involved citizen. I want to use that same drive for the betterment of my community, my home."

Why are you the best candidate for the job? "I'm a common sense guy, that wants to preserve Nisswa's integrity while we progress to where we need to be."

Age: 50.

City: Nisswa.

Occupation: Mortgage Lending Office with Bremer Bank.

Public office experience: "I am currently in my second term servicing my eighth year."

Why are you the best candidate for the job? "I am in my eighth year of serving the city of Nisswa on the city council. That experience brings knowledge of our past and future projects. I have worked hard during my tenure to protect the taxpayers' dollars and will continue to do so going forward with a common sense approach. I understand what makes Nisswa such a unique and wonderful town and will continue to work at preserving that spirit all the while improving our community as a great place to live and visit."

Occupation: Retired law enforcement.

Public office experience: 30 years as peace officer.

Why are you the best candidate for the job? "Communication, clear and factual, is key to effective operations in government. The people of the community should have access to their leadership and expect communication from leadership. It is important that we employ technologies to better allow the citizens of Nisswa to achieve this communication. We also have to work as a whole council together and not as individuals to achieve the desired goals of the citizens of Nisswa. What is best for the community and communicating it to the people is imperative to positioning the city for the future and building trust between the people and city hall."

Gregg Sellner

Age: 48.

City: Nisswa.

Occupation: Architectural designer.

Public office experience: "I was appointed to the city council in 2014 for six months. I also was on the city planning and zoning for five years."

Why are you the best candidate for the job? "I feel that I'm the best candidate for city council because I care so much about this community. I'm passionate to preserve the up-north feel and the financial stability. I have over 18 years of customer service. Being an architectural designer I understand people's needs and look at all ideas with an open mind for what was best for them. I understand city budgets and how city departments operate being appointed to city council in 2014. I sat on the planning and zoning for Nisswa for five years and seen so much change making decisions that help our area thrive."
