Motorists driving between Brainerd and Ironton on Highway 210 should prepare for detours and delays beginning Monday, July 8, as construction is set to begin on that stretch of roadway.
A signed detour will direct drivers along Highway 25 in Brainerd, Highway 18 to Highway 6 in Deerwood, and then Highway 6/Highway 210 to Crosby-Ironton.
The detour includes a temporary mini roundabout at the east intersection of Highway 6 and Highway 210 in Deerwood. The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises drivers to slow down when approaching the roundabout. Motorists should also be alert for trains, as Highway 6 has a railroad crossing just south of the intersection with Highway 210. When a train comes through all traffic on highways 6 and 210 will come to a complete stop at the roundabout.
Living, working within project area
All through traffic must use the detour or seek another route.
Highway 210 access will be restricted to local residents and businesses; however, drivers should expect changes and gravel surfaces when navigating through the work area. Watch for slow or stopped traffic and single-lane closures with use of flaggers and a pilot car.
