CROSBY-Three cats were found dead and 27 cats were found alive in a Crosby residence during a search warrant Monday.

According to the incident report filed by the Crosby Police Department, five Crosby officers and three members of the Animal Humane Society responded to residence on Poplar Street, along with a search warrant. Deerwood Police Department and the Crosby building inspector assisted.

Police cited a 61-year-old woman for public nuisance and having too many cats. Reports will be submitted to the Crow Wing County Attorney's Office for potential additional criminal charges. The building inspector placed a notice on the house for condemnation and the investigation continues, the report stated.

The Crosby Police Department stated more information was not available because this remains an open case. The cats were taken to the Humane Society in Golden Valley.
