A chain reaction sent motorcycles off the road Sunday, injuring three.
A Honda and Harley-Davidson were traveling east Sunday on Highway 2 when slower traffic ahead had both motorcycles veering off the highway. The Honda slowed and veered to the left as it approached traffic and its driver and a passenger slid to the left shoulder. To avoid colliding with the Honda, the Harley-Davidson slowed and veered to the right skidding to the right shoulder.
The crash was reported at 12:09 p.m. on Highway 2 at 15th Street.
Daniel Shea, 61, Cass Lake, driver of the Honda, and his passenger, Heather Best, 28, Bemidji, suffered non-life-threatening injuries as did Andy Appel, 27, Bemidji, driver of the Harley-Davidson, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
Appel was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to North Country Hospital in Bemidji. Shea was wearing a helmet, his passenger was not. Both Shea and Best were also taken to North Country Hospital in Bemidji.
