Student receives national college scholarship
A student from Brainerd is among the winners of a National Merit Scholarship financed by U.S. colleges and universities.
Approximately 2,200 scholarship winners were announced Tuesday, with 78 students in Minnesota winning a scholarship.
Katarina Schwartz of Brainerd was among the 78 Minnesota winners. Schwartz is currently studying at the Jakarta International School in Jakarta, Indonesia, and plans to attend Concordia College in Minnesota and pursue a career in education.
This round of National Merit Scholarships includes scholarships sponsored by 184 higher education institutions, including 107 private and 77 public institutions in 44 states and the District of Columbia.
The awards range from $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
