A motorcyclist is dead and six people traveling in an SUV were injured, including one seriously, following a head-on collision north of Garrison on Highway 169 Monday.
Adam A. Michalski, 29, Clearwater, died at the scene of the crash, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
At 12:40 p.m. Monday, a Buick Enclave driven by 36-year-old Julie A. Comer of Blaine was traveling northbound on Highway 169 near Robin Hood Drive when it collided head-on in the northbound lane with a Harley Davidson, driven by Michalski, traveling southbound on the highway.
A passenger in the Buick, 66-year-old Jean M. Comer, The Villages, Fla., suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. A hospital official reported at 5 p.m. Monday Jean Comer remained in the emergency room but was not expected to need critical care.
Suffering non-life-threatening injuries were Julie Comer; Brayden E. Comer, 11; Dylan Lewis, 11; Jaelin Comer, 9; and Landen Comer, 8, all of Blaine. They were all transported to Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin.
All six people in the Buick were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Michalski was not wearing a helmet.
The Aitkin and Crow Wing county sheriffs' offices assisted at the scene.
