More than 6 million young people across the country today will celebrate National 4-H Week, an annual celebration of 4-H during the first full week of October. Crow Wing County 4-H will leverage National 4-H Week this year to showcase the opportunities that 4-H offers young people and highlights the 4-H youth in the community.

"The experiences youth have in 4-H last a lifetime, as will the skills they develop", said Courtney Johnson, Crow Wing County 4-H Program Coordinator. "Youth have the opportunities to grow in limitless project areas; youth leadership, crop science, fine arts, and the list goes on. These youth are mastering important skills that will carry the workforce of tomorrow."

This past July, the Great Green Gardeners 4-H Club members were recognized for their work in the community at the Crow Wing County Fair Association's Ag Day. The club grew a garden at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds focusing on sustainable gardening methods, analyzed soil samples, and provided a variety of garden weed samples to educate the public on proper weed identification.

In Crow Wing County more than 325 4-H youths and 100 volunteers from the community are involved in 4-H. On Sept. 23, the Crow Wing County commissioners signed a proclamation that states Oct. 5-11, 2014, as National 4-H Week in Crow Wing County.
