A 4-year-old girl was bitten in the scalp by an unknown dog Saturday in her yard on the 1000 block of Southeast 11th Street in Brainerd.

Brainerd Police and Animal Control are investigating the incident, which happened shortly before 3:45 p.m. Officers met with the girl and her mother at Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd where she was being treated for a single puncture type injury to her scalp, police stated.

The girl's mother told police they were at home in their yard when she heard her daughter scream. When the mother went around the house to check on her there was a large grayish colored Husky dog. The mother did not recognize the dog and it fled the area. Police were unable to locate the dog.
