A blaze drawing more than two dozen area firefighters to PleasureLand RV Center caused in excess of $150,000 in damages.
The Brainerd Fire Department was called at at 9:34 p.m. Monday to a report of a camper on fire at the business, 17395 Highway 371, north of Baxter in Unorganized Territory. The caller reported the camper was on fire and was parked near another camper, the fire department said in a news release.
Fire crews arrived on scene and found a fifth-wheel-style camper fully engulfed in fire. The park model camper next to it also started on fire. Both campers were parked inside the service area of the business in a secure area outside of the building.
The fire was quickly contained as fire crews kept the fire from spreading to the building.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the damages are estimated at $150,000, the release stated. There were about 30 firefighters on scene from both the Brainerd and Nisswa fire departments. North Memorial Ambulance and the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
