The Cass County Sheriff's Office announced the next Community Outreach Day will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. June 28 at the Fairview Township Building, 10219 Cass County Road 77, between Lake Shore and East Gull Lake.

The public is invited to visit with Sheriff Tom Burch and members of the sheriff's office staff and learn about initiatives within the sheriff's office. Applications for a permit to carry a firearm or purchase a firearm, alarm permit applications and event permit applications will be available. The portable "Take It to the Box" prescription drug disposal box will be available to drop off unwanted or expired prescription drugs. Staff also will assist in signing up those interested for the department's instant emergency notification program "Nixle."

The event will be in conjunction with an informative event hosted by Fairview Township to get the latest information and updates on the Fairview extension of the Gull Lake Trail planned to connect the trail in East Gull Lake with the one being constructed in Lake Shore. The Cass County election administrator will be present to share about the newest technology in elections and other election information.

A light lunch of grilled hot dogs, brats and dessert will be served.

"We look forward to hearing how we can improve public safety in your neighborhoods," Burch said in a news release.
