Turf management workshop set Sept. 24
BAXTER—Property managers, private maintenance companies, schools and parks departments are invited to attend a workshop on how to better manage turf grass that will reduce costs, save time and keep area lakes and rivers healthy.
The workshop will be 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 24, at the Baxter City Hall, 13190 Memorywood Drive, Baxter.
The workshop is co-presented by Fortin Consulting Inc., turfgrass experts, and maintenance professionals. Certification offered for Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Level I Turfgrass Maintenance for attendees. Certified individuals will be listed on the MPCA's website.
Training topics include:
• Equipment calibration,
• Selection and application of fertilizers,
• Mowing techniques,
• Pesticide application tips,
• Environmental effects,
• Best practices for turfgrass management, and
• Legal issues and additional resources
Workshop cost is $15 per person and includes a copy of Turfgrass Maintenance with Reduced Environmental Impacts manual, refreshments and lunch.
Funding for these workshops is provided by MPCA through a grant from U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management Fund and Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District.

Payment will also be taken the day of the workshop. The organizations ask participants to register before, so they can get a count for lunch.
