Brainerd Dispatch ties for 2nd best Minnesota daily newspaper in Better Newspaper Contest
The Brainerd Dispatch tied for second place among daily newspapers entering the Minnesota Newspaper Association Better Newspaper Contest for 2017-18.
Rochester finished first to earn the Vance Trophy, while Brainerd and the St. Cloud Times tied for second.
The Dispatch earned 12 awards in various categories, including five first-place plaques.
"I'm excited for our staff because this is our best finish in the 30 years of the Vance Trophy competition," said Dispatch publisher Pete Mohs. "It's great to be recognized for our hard work. Our staff received awards for editorial coverage, advertising and marketing."
Here are the individual results announced at the MNA Convention banquet Thursday, Jan. 24, in Bloomington:
