Community Action of Pequot Lakes will host the 32nd annual Miss Pequot Lakes Scholarship Pageant at 7 p.m. Friday, April 12, in the Pequot Lakes High School auditorium.

2018 Miss Pequot Lakes Hailee Swenson will crown one of six area high school junior and senior candidates. Candidates are Pequot Lakes High School students Whitney Fink, Alexa Fyle, Mackenzie Nelson, Mariah Rickard and Shayna Schmidt, and Crosslake Community School student Taylor Schulz.

Tickets are $5 at the door and include a cake and punch reception after the pageant.

The first appearance of the 2019 Miss Pequot Lakes royalty will be at the Miss Pine River Scholarship Pageant on Saturday, April 13, at Pine River-Backus High School.

Candidate escorts are Eagle View Elementary School fourth-graders Peyton Fischer, Ava Grove, Addison Headley, Sidney Larsen and Maddy Norquist, and Crosslake Community School fourth-grader Cara Scharenbroich.

Three judges will review each contestant's information before the pageant, as well as conduct an initial one-on-one interview with them. At the event, the Miss Pequot Lakes contestants will be judged on presences in both casual wear and formal wear, as well as to their answers to an impromptu question and a talent each will perform.

The Miss Pequot Lakes candidates and escorts will perform an opening number choreographed by 2018 Miss Pequot Lakes Princess Ashlynn Reynolds.

Mistress of ceremony will be Kimberly Ziesemer, Miss Pequot Lakes Scholarship Pageant director.

John and Caroljean Weise will be honored at the pageant as the first recipients of the Miss Pequot Lakes Hall of Fame award.

A few former Miss Pequot Lakes and Miss Pequot Lakes Princesses will be a part of the pageant program. Opening speakers and pageant helpers are Gabby Ziesemer, Brea Eckes, Kodi Crawford, Sophia Nordby, Ashley Wallin and Isabelle Ziesemer.

The Miss Pequot Lakes Scholarship Pageant provides prizes to all participants, thanks to the support of area businesses and individual sponsors. Scholarship amounts are $3,000 for Miss Pequot Lakes; $1,500 for Miss Pequot Lakes Princess; and $750 for Miss Congeniality.
