Child safety center raises nearly $50,000 in fundraiser
The Alex & Brandon Child Safety Center of Brainerd hosted the Second Annual Community Fundraiser Challenge and surpassed its goal to raise $40,000.
Including sponsorships, ticket sales, online auction proceeds, the personalized barbecue and salon takeover raffles and donations, the organization raised $49,553.24.
"On behalf of our board of directors, staff and clients, I would like to thank everyone who supports our efforts to provide a safe and child-friendly environment where families can visit with those they love and who love them under supervision by trained staff. It was a fantastic opportunity for people to have some fun while raising awareness for such a worthy cause," stated Shannon Wussow, executive director of the Mid-Minnesota Women's Center and the safety center, in the release.
Among the supporters was the Brainerd Area Sertoma Club.
"Winter Wonderland succeeds because it is a partnership of Sertoma and several other organizations who are all nonprofits and willing to work to donate to other nonprofits," stated Brainerd Area Sertoma Club's Winter Wonderland Committee Co-Chair Dawn Eckstrom in a news release. "Every time you drive through the display, someone in the community is helped by your donation — this time it was Alex & Brandon Child Safety Center.
