The Pine River Watershed Alliance will hold its annual meeting from 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, at the Ideal Community Center. The normal monthly board meeting where all are welcome will follow the annual meeting.

Jim Chamberlin will give a presentation on understanding soil health. Chamberlin is program manager with Happy Dancing Turtle, Crow Wing County Soil and Water Conservation District supervisor, Pine River Watershed Alliance board member, and he and his wife, Audra, own and operate Island Lake Farm.

Chamberlin will give a basic overview on natural soil fertility and the role adaptive grazing management plays on protecting soil and water resources.

An update on the efforts to work with local farmers and ranchers to protect and restore soil health through the Pine River One Watershed One Plan will follow. The proposed action steps from the 1W1P will be reviewed and discussed, including how local lake associations and other organizations can participate in the implementation steps.

The Pine River 1W1P has the last open meeting for public comment from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at the Ideal Community Center.
