Rural Renewable Energy Alliance in Backus is attempting to raise $30,000 in November to bring solar energy to Curran Hospital in Liberia so the hospital can have a constant supply of affordable energy.
This is RREAL's second 30K in 30 Days event. The group has received $10,000 in matching funds for the project and has raised more than 60% of the goal. RREAL is now seeking help in raising the rest. Those who donate to the cause will be entered to win a queen size quilt made by RREAL board member Mary Jo Mettler.
In addition, donations from Nov. 1-14 will have a chance at being picked for an additional $500, $1,000 or $10,000 for Give to the Max Day by GiveMN, a collaborative Minnesota Community Foundation event.
RREAL and REAL Solar are challenging themselves to raise $500 each to go toward the $30,000 goal as well. Each team that meets or beats that $500 goal gets to pie their boss.
