The Fathers Reading Every Day program announced the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe donated $1,000 to support its work.

The organization, known as FRED, has programs in local elementary schools and early childhood sites that encourage men to read to young children. FRED also teaches literacy and parent education at the Crow Wing County Jail, and partners with the ACEs Resiliency Coalition to bring forward public education about Adverse Childhood Experiences to build resiliency at the individual, family and community levels.
