After Charter Spectrum reported widespread outages in the lakes area beginning around 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, Brainerd Public Schools issued a statement for students and families experiencing difficulties.

“We understand that this impacts many of our students so we wanted to ensure you that we are aware of the outage and that you will receive follow up information regarding classes as needed,” Technology Director Sarah Porisch said in an email to families Wednesday afternoon. “ Please note that if you have specific questions regarding your internet services please contact your provider directly.”

Spectrum’s website reported an outage for the 56401 zip code.

“Our technicians are doing everything they can to repair the problem. Our agents don't have any other information at this time,” the website said as of 2:20 p.m. Wednesday.
