LITTLE FALLS-A 71-year-old Little Falls woman is accused of driving drunk in a vehicle crash that killed 86-year-old Dolores Ann Mickow of Wabasha.
Lana Jean Nornberg of Little Falls was summoned Oct. 2 from Morrison County District Court in Little Falls. Her first appearance is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. Monday in front of Judge Leonard A. Weiler. The woman faces two felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide of operating a vehicle in a grossly negligent manner and criminal vehicular operation in causing substantial bodily harm to another.
Mickow died at the scene of the crash reported at 4 p.m. May 15. The Minnesota State Patrol responded to the crash and reported Norberg was traveling the wrong way on Highway 10 near Little Falls in Belle Prairie Township. Nornberg was driving south in the northbound lane in a 2005 Subaru four-door vehicle. The Subaru sideswiped a semitrailer before hitting the Ford Escape-in which Mickow was a passenger-head on.
The driver of the Ford Escape, 52-year-old Patricia Ann Gerchy of Bemidji, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls. Semitrailer driver John Russell Hulst, 38, of Viking, and a passenger-Kayla Sue Barth, 28, of Viking-were not injured in the crash.
A preliminary breath test performed at the scene showed Nornberg was under the influence of alcohol. A blood sample was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to test for alcohol and showed she was at .02, the criminal complaint stated.

The complaint stated Nornberg was driving the wrong way for more than a mile-and-a-half before the fatal crash. It also stated that the weather conditions did not contribute to the crash.
