NIMROD — A tractor, 15 round hay bales and a round baler were lost to fire Tuesday, July 27, 3 miles north of Nimrod.
The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office was called just before 3 p.m. to a grass fire in section 18 of Orton Township. Responding units arrived to find a meadow on fire, along with a tractor, baler and numerous round bales. DNR Forestry and the Sebeka and Menahga fire departments were called to fight the blaze. Once the fire was contained, the firefighters worked with the owner on extinguishing the bales along with help from numerous neighbors. No injuries were reported.
The exact cause of the fire has not been determined. Additional agencies assisting the sheriff’s office were the Sebeka Police Department, Tri-County Ambulance and Minnesota DNR enforcement division.
